New ALI BABA blend: superfine merino/babycameldown/silk - in the Funhouse shoppe now
Do you need a luxury fiber fix? Announcing our newest fiber blend – we’re calling it “Ali Baba”, and it’s sooooooooo soft and yummy!
Our newest luxury fiber is a delicious blend of 40% superfine merino, 40% baby camel down, and 20% silk – ok, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! This blend takes dyes beautifully, and is so soft and silky – it should almost be illegal! But hey, we’re glad to enable, and can’t wait for you all to try it too.
Plus, we’ve recently discovered Polwarth/silk – which is quickly taking one of our top spots on our list of favorite fibers to work with. Polwarth/silk is just as yummy as our merino /silk blend fiber, but with a slight “bounce” to it which is somehow…FUN! And it takes dye beautifully, too. You gotta try some!
In addition to the Ali Baba blend and our new line of Polwarth-silk, we’ve also added several new batches of our hand painted silk hankies – also to-die-for soft and luxurious. Silk Hankies are one of our favorite things to use for texture and shine in spinning and felting. Plus they are so darn FUN! Do you have an “emergency spinning kit” in your car or purse yet? try putting a tiny turkish spindle and a few silk hankies into a cosmetic pouch in your car or work bag; this has saved our sanity several times in the last few months. Somehow waiting in line doesn’t seem quite as bad if you have some spinning to keep you occupied.

Hellooo strangers!
New stuff in the shoppe today, and every day this week. I’ve got some really gorgeous stuff to show you!
I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted updates here, and I do apologize. I’ve been working away in the studio, but not so much on the computer. I really need an assistant (AND a new laptop, LOL!) I think the problem is more my computer/camera setup than anything else. I can work 24-7 dying fiber and carding batts, but when it comes to taking pics, uploading them to my computer, editing them, adding stuff to my website, and posting on Ravelry and here on the blog…well, you can see why I’d rather play, right? Oh well, let’s get back to the FUN stuff:
I’ve been working on so many projects, it’s hard to know where to start. I’ll start today with some gorgeous new hand painted LONG COLOR GRADIENTS. yup, I’ve been spinning, knitting, and planning for shawls this year, and wanted to have a long color changing skein of handspun for my next shawl. I LOVE the resulting fibers so much! I find that I get really beautiful results with braids that are 5 + ounces, which works out perfectly for a shawl project. I’ve put some up in the shoppe, and I can even do bigger braids if you want. I’m experimenting with a variety of colorways, and will be adding some SCRUMPTIOUS new fibers to my list of favorites to dye (can you say CAMEL/MERINO/SILK???!!) Uh-huh, that’s what I”M talking about!!!
I’ve also got tons of new products that have been in the works for months – I can’t wait to share all this with you!
In addition, I’ve decided to add some more personal FUN stuff here on the blog this year, because well…I’m full of ideas, LOL! Like my SPINCYCLE project…but more on that tomorrow.
Right now, I’ll leave you with some more fiber pics. I”m busy taking more pics, and will be updating the shoppe every day this week.

It’s Time for Holiday shopping at the Funhouse – deals, goodies, and Fun!!
It’s hard to believe that the Funhouse has been open for over a year now – time sure flies when you love what you do! The holiday season has always been one of our favorite times of year – crafting is even more special when you are making things to give away, don’t you agree? Of course, that includes the fun fibery goodies we love to create around here. This week we’ve been “un-venting again” …carding up some really gorgeous new Funbatts – and this time, we’ve added pre-strung beads and flowers RIGHT IN THE BATTS – Cool, right??!!
In addition, our love affair with hand painted fibers continues: we’ve dyed up some gorgeous braids of bamboo, milk protein, and banana silk to add beautiful shine and texture to your spinning, carding, and crafting.
We’ll be adding new yummies to the shoppe every day between now and Christmas!!! Wohoo! Make sure to check back often, especially during the supersale weekend of “Black Friday” thru cyber Monday (our favorite, haha). We’ll have new items on special every day – and probably more often than that!
And finally, we’re really excited to bring you some new products in December – check back for teaser pictures in the next day or two.

RED HOT SUMMER SALE!
It's hot out! How about a cool sale?
It’s SUMMERTIME, and for most of America, it’s HOT HOT HOT!
Here in Southern California, it’s been really nice (knock on wood), so we are definitely counting our blessings. I’ve been dying fibers and yarn like crazy, and working on lots of fun new happenings. I bought a WOOD LATHE to turn spindles! Well, when I learn to turn I’ll be making plenty of cool fiber tools, you can count on that. At the moment, we are busy enjoying the summer.
The Funhouse store is stocked full of delicious fibers, spinning kits, and hand dyed yarns. And to celebrate summer, we have put EVERYTHING in the store on sale!!! Only for 2 days, so hurry over and check it out.

Creative Spinning kits – they’re HERE!!!!

Introducing the coolest FUNkits ever!!! You’re gonna love them!
That’s right, presenting the amazing “Creative Spinning Funkit”,our latest creation. We recently launched these kits at the Insubordiknit L.A. “hard core/soft core” workshop. The fabulous Jacey Boggs came to show us West coasters some of her magical spinning techniques – it was so much FUN! Funhouse Fibers was proud to be the official “fiber sponsor” for this weekend workshop, and we had a BLAST spinning, laughing, and hanging out with some extremely talented spinners. In addition, we got some great feedback from the workshop attendees – who proceeded to snatch up all the extra fibers we brought with us! Yay! We got to hang out with our friends Lushmommy (fiberista extrodinaire), Janice Rosema (spinolution? No problem-o!), Beemiceelf ( Fiber Artista!), and met some new folks too – like Namaste farms (home of the long locks). And of course, my buddy Susan/ WildOnion Studio was there too! Jacey even brought her very own camera crew – they shot some TBD pictures and video footage for her upcoming DVD – eeek! “wheres the makeup and hair people!?”
Back to the Funkits – we are soooooo excited to finally get these in the shoppe – we’ve been working on these for awhile now. Since this suits our own personal spinning style, we knew it would be a great kit to offer to discriminating spinners – like YOU, grin.
